Salvador, Bahia, de 15 a 20 de fevereiro de 2007,

“Carnaval em Salvador é muito legal!” (Tobias, 2007) This was one of the few sentences that my friend Tobias could speak.. In 2007, we (Natalia and I) went to the best carnaval of Brazil, although foreigners think that it is in Rio, no it is not, it is in Salvador!

How did it happen?

Well, long time ago I went to an exchange program to Sweden and met Tobias. We’ve became friends, then he visited me in September 2006. After some boring days in São Paulo, he decided to try Salvador as we (João and I) advised him to do. In Salvador he fell in love by Erica!
And this Carnaval to meet his love again he came once more to Brazil! Then we couldn’t waste the chance to meet Tobias and Erica and find out the Carnaval of Salvador!

How was it?

Every night we had to wear different Abádas. Our camarote was amazing, it was the Camarote Cerveja & Cia of Ivete Sangalo. It was open bar of Red Label, Various Caipirinhas, Beer and other non-alcoholic drinks. It had a place for massages, hair dressing and a food court. Thanks to Erica to made this choice for us!

It was awesome! We arrived on February 15th, left our bags at Erica place and went for our first night out! We went to “Pipoca” in Ivete Sangalo truck, we took really close pics!

In the second day, we had visited the Pelourinho, kind of famous historical neighborhood of Salvador. It is really beautiful place full of touristy stuff. It was a good time! In the evening we arrived at Barra-Ondina (The name of the circuit where we were) at 7h30, it was quite late. We were dancing, playing and drinking a lot. Natalia and I made some crazy hairdressing stuff in our heads! It was really funny! At the end we have followed the Pipoca of Expresso 2222 which were playing Gilberto Gil, Margate Menezes, Lulu Santos and some other celebrities.

In the third and last day of parties, Tobias got very sick! As it was the last night we had to arrive as earlier as possible to watch Chiclete com Banana! We arrived very late, but, fortunately, Chiclete com Banana arrived more late than us! This night we could watch Chiclete com Banana, Ivete Sangalo, Zorra, Tribahia, etc! It was great! As Tobias was very sick, Erica and him left really early. Natalia and I played longer until we went to the Pipoca of Daniela Mercuy. We arrived at 5h00, went a little bit to the swimming pool and went to bed at 6h00.

In the 4th and 5th days we went to Guarajuba. Erica and Cleber joined us too. It is a beach an 100 km far from Salvador. In the way to Guarajuba we’ve made a pit stop at Uncle’s house of Erica where we meet part of her family. His father had 17 brothers, 11 still alive and we meet 5! Such a huge family! At her Uncle’s, we ate goat meat and the beans of Uncle Edinho (which unfortunately were sleeping at that time). We have chatted for an hour. Everyone there was really kind with us!

We arrived at Guarajuba late, then we had dinner and slept. The next day was amazingly beautiful! No clouds at all, really sunny day! We have spent the day in that gorgeous beach. The water was clean, the sand was soft, there were plenty of coconut trees and no shop disturbing places! It was a paradise! After a whole day relaxing and boozing, we went back to Salvador. In the way back we had dinner at Pizza Hut.

After this awesome Carnaval, Erica and Tobias left us at the airport where we exchanged our flight back of 5h20 for a flight at 2h45.
